David Stratman lives in Boston, MA. David edits New
Democracy and is the author of We CAN Change the World: The Real
Meaning of Everyday Life. A former Washington director of the National
Parent Teacher Association and an educational consultant, David gave the
keynote address to
the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents Summer Institute July

Susan
Ohanian
lives in Charlotte, VT. A longtime teacher of first grade through college,
Susan is the author of numerous books on education, including
One Size Fits Few: The Folly of Educational Standards and
What Happened to Recess and Why Are Our Children Struggling in Kindergarten?
Recent speaking engagements include a keynote address at a test resister rally
at the state capital in Austin, Texas, an NPR radio panel discussion on
the legacy of "A Nation at Risk" in Providence, RI, keynote at a
conference on democracy and education in Ohio, and workshops with math

Carol Doherty lives in Taunton, MA and is the Director
of the Professional Development Program at the Northeastern University School
of Education. Carol was a former President of the Massachusetts Teachers
Association and has been a member of New Democracy since 1992. As President
of the MTA she spearheaded the development of a long range plan which focused
on Education For Democracy. Involved in education and workers rights issues,
Carol spent some time in Nicaragua as an observer to the first democratic
election in that country in 1985. She has been a guest speaker in numerous
forums including labor, education and for various activities organizations.

John Spritzler lives in Boston, MA. where he is a
public health worker who helps design
and analyze AIDS clinical trials at the Harvard School of Public Health. John
is a frequent writer for New Democracy on health care (Market-Driven

other topics, and the author of
